Pakistan may allow import of cotton from India by land. Bilateral relations between the two countries are likely to be restored to some extent following a new ceasefire agreement on the Line of Control (LoC). This information was presented in a report published on Sunday.

"Abdul Razzaq Dawood, the prime minister's adviser on commerce, may take a decision on this so that cotton and yarn can be imported from India from next week," a Commerce Ministry source was quoted as saying.

According to the report, the issue of cotton shortage has already been raised with Prime Minister Imran Khan. Imran Khan also holds the charge of the Ministry of Commerce. Once a decision in principle is taken, a formal order will be submitted to the Cabinet's Economic Co-ordination Committee. It is learned that the matter has been discussed internally but the final decision will be taken only after the approval of the Prime Minister.
