Martyr's Day: PM-Shah paid homage to Bhagat Singh-Sukhdev-Rajguru

Today, March 23, is Martyr's Day and the countrymen are paying homage to our heroic soldiers. On this day in 1931, Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru were hanged by the British government. Many veteran leaders of the country, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, have paid tributes to the martyrs on the occasion of Martyrs' Day.

Prime Minister Modi wrote in a tweet, "I salute the revolutionary ambassador of freedom, Amar Shaheed Veer Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru on the day of martyrdom. The sacrifice of these great grandsons of Maa Bharti will be an inspiration for every generation of the country, Jai Hind! '

Amit Shah, JP Nadda also paid homage

Besides Prime Minister Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah also tweeted. He wrote that it is not possible to describe in words the heroism and contribution of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru in the history of independence. Even today the eyes of all Indians are wet with remembrance of his longing and sacrifice to free the country from the shackles of slavery, Kotish bow at the feet of such heroic sacrifices.

BJP president JP Nadda also tweeted on the occasion. He wrote, 'On the day of martyrdom of Veer Saput, the great revolutionary martyr Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev of Mother India, I salute him. The martyrdom of these grandchildren of Maa Bharti inspired millions of young people for the freedom movement, their supreme sacrifice will forever be immortal in Indian history.

He was arrested during the freedom struggle when Bhagat Singh and his associates hurled bombs at the assembly in protest of the Public Safety and Trade Distribution Bill. He was sentenced to death on this charge and Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru were hanged on March 23, 1931, the day before the appointed day.
