Journalist Perk's killers survived due to Imran government's negligence: Pak. Supreme

Islamabad, Ta. 27
Pakistan's Supreme Court has ruled in favor of the murder of journalist Daniel Perk, saying the killers were released due to the negligence of the Imran Khan government. The prosecution failed to present evidence. America resented the issue.
Daniel Pearl, a journalist for the Wall Street Journal, was killed in Karachi, Pakistan. Daniel Pearl was the South Asia president of the Wall Street Journal. Daniel Pearl released a report proving the nexus between Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI and Al Qaeda. Daniel was assassinated by al-Qaeda terrorist Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh and his men after the report.
The case then went to court. Lawyers filed the case in the Supreme Court on behalf of Imran Khan's government, but the court had to acquit the accused due to lack of evidence and weak arguments. Regretting this, Supreme Court Justice Sardar Tariq Masood said that the prosecution had made very weak arguments. No evidence was gathered so the court had no choice but to release the accused.
This is the same Ahmed Umar Saeed Sheikh, who was also imprisoned in India. But he was released at the time of the Kandahar hijacking. Saeed Sheikh was earlier sentenced by the Singh High Court to seven years in April 2020 for Pearl's murder, but was acquitted in the Supreme Court after Imran Khan's government failed to properly challenge the militants.
The United States has expressed surprise at the ruling by Pakistan's Supreme Court. The US advised Pakistan to consider other legal options. The US had even appealed to Pakistan to file a case in the US. Pakistan has also filed a review petition in the Supreme Court as the UN envoy also put pressure on Pakistan.
