The Delhi National Capital Territory (Amendment) Bill 2021 was passed in the Lok Sabha on Monday. The bill has been passed in the Lok Sabha amid heavy opposition. During the discussion on the bill, BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi said that the Center was taking steps under the Constitution to remove the unrest in the area of ​​the national capital.

Within this bill, more power has been given to the Vice-Governor of Delhi. Meenakshi Lekhi said that in Delhi, the lieutenant governor has the right to run the government in the form of an administrator. This is already in the constitution. The central government is going to clarify and implement this through research.

In this regard, the Congress has claimed that through this unconstitutional bill, the central government is trying to rule Delhi through the back door. Congress leader Manish Tewari has alleged that the BJP had talked of giving full state status to Delhi. But now this government wants to end the democratic system in Delhi.

The Delhi government has made some changes in the functioning of the bill passed by the central government in the Lok Sabha. There is talk of giving additional powers to the Vice-Governor of Delhi. The bill will also affect the decision taken by the Delhi Legislative Assembly and the decision of the Delhi government.
