Ghamasan in Kerala Congress, senior leader PC Chacko resigns

New delhi date. 10 March 2021, Wednesday

The resignation of veteran Kerala Congress leader PC Chacko today has come as another shock to the Congress. PC Chacko had earlier today announced his resignation ahead of the April 6 Assembly polls in Kerala. According to the news agency, Chacko has sent his resignation to acting president Sonia Gandhi.

"The party is divided and I am tired of making requests to the party high command to intervene in this matter," Chacko said.

"In Kerala, the Congress is divided into not one but two parties. People want the Congress back in Kerala but the top leaders are engaged in factionalism," he said.

There is no Congressman in Kerala today but he is in one group of the Congress or in another group. That is why I have decided to quit the Congress now. Last week, four Congress leaders from MP Rahul Gandhi's constituency of Wayanad resigned.
