Funding was coming from Pakistan and the UAE to resettle the Rohingya in Jammu and Kashmir

Verification of the Rohingya people currently living in Jammu and Kashmir is underway. Security agencies, meanwhile, have come across some shocking facts. The investigation revealed that funding was being provided to an NGO from Pakistan and Saudi Arabia to resettle the Rohingya in Jammu.

It started in 1996 when a large number of Rohingyas came from Myanmar and settled in Jammu's Kiria Lake, Narwal Bala, the oil population of Brahmins, Samba, Kathua. At the time, Jammu and Kashmir was ruled by Farooq Abdullah's government, security agencies said, adding that NGOs seeking funding and welfare abroad for the Rohingya have also set up madrassas and welfare centers. However, the name of the NGO has not been revealed yet.

According to government figures, more than 13,700 foreigners, including Rohingya Muslims and Bangladeshis, have settled in Jammu and Samba district. Statistics show that between 2008 and 2016, their population grew by more than 6,000. The Rohingya, a Bengali-speaking minority in Myanmar, are Muslims.

While the police have sought the help of the sarpanches of Jammu, Samba and Kathua in their search for the Rohingyas who have escaped from verification and have appealed to identify the Rohingyas and hand them over to the police immediately. Police arrested 168 Rohingyas last Saturday and sent them to a holding center set up in Hiranagar jail. They did not have valid evidence to stay or come to the country. The accused have been prosecuted under sections of the Passport Act. Apart from that, 24 Rohingyas have been evacuated from the Brahmana oil settlement in Samba district on Monday.

The Rohingya Muslims from Myanmar are being verified at the MAM Stadium amid tight security, officials said. According to Tantra, under this process, other information including biometric information, place of residence, etc. of the Rohingya community has been collected. The campaign will continue. An in-depth investigation is underway.
