New Delhi, 16 March 2021 Tuesday

Railway Minister Piyush Goyal has made a big announcement in the Lok Sabha today, saying Indian Railways will be the world's first and largest railway system by 2030 to run on 100 per cent renewable energy.

He told Parliament that work was underway on railway electrification, first year about 650 km of railway line was electrified, this year the government is going to electrify about 5,500 to 6,000 km of railway line, last year 4,000 km of railway line was electrified due to Corona. Happened. And by the year 2023, the railway network of the entire country will be electrified.

The Railway Minister said that the government has installed solar panels at 1000 railway stations and 400 railway buildings. At present, the railways have land, although it is difficult to save it, it is being encroached upon, so the government has made this plan. By the year 2030, the Indian railway network will become one hundred percent renewable energy i.e. zero carbon emitting railway network. And the environment will also be protected.
