Bangalore ranks first among livable places in India, Ahmedabad ranks third with 4.5 points

The central government had released the Ease of Living Index of 111 cities. The ranking was revealed in two categories. One category of cities with a population of more than 1 million was created and another category of cities with a population of less than 1 million was created. Bangalore was ranked first in the ranking of cities with a population of over one million.
111 cities of the country were evaluated on the basis of criteria like education, health, sanitation, transport, security, economic development opportunities, green cover, power consumption. The central government presented the index in two categories. A list of cities with a population of over one million was compiled. Another list was made of cities with a population of less than one million. In the ranking of cities with a population of over one million, Bengaluru scored 2.50 points out of 100. With that, Bangalore got the first rank. This means that Bangalore is the number one livable city in the country.
Pune was second with 7.8. Ahmedabad was third with 4.5 points, Chennai fourth with 4.81 points and Surat fifth with 21.5 points. Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara and three other cities of Gujarat were included in the top-10. Shimla ranked first among cities with a population of less than one million. Gandhinagar, the capital of Gujarat, was also included in the list of cities. In both the categories, four cities of Gujarat were included in the top-10.
India's capital Delhi, which is notorious for air pollution, was not included in the top-10. Delhi was ranked 14th. Srinagar was ranked last in the category of cities with a population of over one million. Among the cities with a population of more than one million were six cities in the country. There were 6 cities with a population of less than 1 million. Muzaffarpur in Bihar was the last city in that category. Cities in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh were lagging behind.
