In Chakkarnagar in Uttar Pradesh's Etawah district, police on Friday produced the daughter-in-law, who has been receiving a pension for more than 20 years as the wife of a deceased father-in-law by tampering with documents, in the Prayagraj High Court. The woman has been sent to Nari Niketan Etawah on a court order till the police present her in the High Court again on March 22 and has also sought an investigation report from the police.

Gangaram Singh, a resident of Sindous village, was a soldier of the Fatehgarh unit of the Rajwat Rajput Regiment, police said. He died in the line of duty in 1985. Gangaram's wife Shakuntala had died before her husband's death. He lives in the village with his son Amol Singh and daughter-in-law Vidyavati family. It is alleged that after Gangaram's death, Vidyavati became Gangaram's wife Shakuntala by falsifying and tampering with documents.
