Yemen's Huthi rebels targeted an airport in southwestern Saudi Arabia, state television said. According to Saudi TV, the attack caused the civilian plane to catch fire.

Firefighters extinguished the fire at Abha Airport. Fortunately, no civilians were killed or injured in the attack. Saudi officials have not commented on the incident.

An Iranian-backed Huthi claimed responsibility for the attack after the incident. He further added that the attack was carried out by us in retaliation for the ongoing bombardment of our country by the Saudis.

Colonel Turki al-Malki, a spokesman for the Saudi-led coalition forces in Yemen, said two bombs dropped by Huthi had been dropped by our forces. Fighting has been raging in Yemen since 2015 between Saudi-led coalition forces and Huthi rebels.

Huthi rebels have repeatedly targeted Saudi airports and military bases. Most attacks by Huthis are carried out by drones. Most of the attacks by the Huthis have been in the cities of Abha Jizan. Several people have been injured and one has been killed in these attacks in the last few years.
