Union Minister Piyush Goyal, who has been very active on Twitter, on Tuesday announced that he had created an account on the social media platform 'Koo'. It is a Make in India application developed under the government's 'disagreement' with Twitter. Electronics and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has already joined the platform and has a verified handle. The handle has been verified on this platform by several government departments including IT and Post.

‘Coo’ is an app like Twitter that was launched 10 months ago and won the self-contained app challenge. This application has been developed by Aparameya Radhakrishna and Mayank Bidavadka. The app is available in many languages ​​including Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Bengali, Tamil, Malayalam, Gujarati, Marathi, Punjabi, Oriya and Assamese.

As per the details given on the download page of this app in Google Playstore, it has been developed by Indians to share and discuss their ideas in their mother tongue. Its tagline is 'Connecting with Indians in Indian Languages'. It is a platform for sharing micro-blogging.

What can be done on 'Koo'?

Koo can be used both as an app and a website and its interface is similar to Twitter. It has a limit of 350 words.

Collision with the government's Twitter

Last week, the government took to Twitter to respond to the breach, after which Twitter India's public policy director Mahima Kaul resigned. Following the incident, the government ordered Twitter to close 1,178 accounts of alleged supporters of Pakistan and Khalistan and warned of fines or up to seven years in prison under the relevant sections if the instructions were not followed.
