To imprison a citizen if he disagrees with the government? Court slams police in tool kit case

New delhi date. 24. Wednesday, February, 2021

Activist Disha Raveen, who is facing charges of making tool kits in connection with the farmers' agitation, was granted bail by a Delhi court on Tuesday but the court also slammed the Delhi Police.

Opposing Disha Raveen's bail, Delhi Police said, "This is not a tool kit case but it was intended to defame the country and create unrest in the country. Disha deleted her chat on WhatsApp as she wanted to avoid legal action." Thus the intention behind the toolkit was not good.

However, the court rejected all the arguments of the police and said that there was nothing in the records released by the police which suggested that Disha Ravi had presented separatist views. Disha Ravi also had some connection with the banned organization Sikhs for Justice. It is not a crime to be the editor of a toolkit that does not cause harm.

At the same time, the court said that the case of treason cannot be stopped only with the intention of putting ointment on the wounded pride of the government. In a democratic system, citizens can show the way to the government. Awareness is the identity of a prosperous democracy.

The court's remarks are a blow to the Delhi Police, as moral pressure has now increased on the Delhi Police following the remarks.
