The session in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly began with the national anthem for the first time in 58 years of state formation. The history was made about a week ago when the national anthem was sung before Governor RN Ravi's address at the beginning of the 7th session of the 13th Legislative Assembly.

The state of Nagaland came into existence on December 1, 1963. The first assembly elections were held in the state in January 1964 and an elected government came into existence. The first assembly was formed in the state on February 11, 1964, but the state assembly never had the tune of 'Jana Gana Man'.
