The Modi government now trusts the Supreme Court in the matter of agricultural law

- The committee constituted by the Supreme Court will submit its report by March 11

New delhi date. Friday, February 26, 2021

The Modi government has now decided to fully wait for the Supreme Court's stance on the ongoing controversy over agricultural laws. A committee set up by the Supreme Court to resolve the dispute will submit a report by March 11. However, despite the rapid pace of work, the committee is unlikely to prepare a report in the next two weeks. In these circumstances the committee may seek additional time from the Supreme Court.

The government has decided to follow the Supreme Court's guidelines instead of taking a new initiative on its own in the matter of agricultural law disputes. The Supreme Court has constituted a 3-member committee to resolve the dispute. In these circumstances, the government is awaiting the report of the committee and the attitude of the Supreme Court.

The committee has so far spoken to more than 500 organizations, NGOs, food processing sector entrepreneurs, traders' associations and experts associated with the agricultural sector. So far no one was able to send in the perfect solution, which is not strange. However, several suggestions have been received to amend several provisions of the law. Because of this the government feels that even the Supreme Court will not accept the argument of withdrawing the law.

At present this committee is working very fast. However, the committee was only able to do half of the work by two weeks before the deadline to submit the report. The committee has also solicited suggestions through the internet and the process of seeking views is still ongoing.

The report will then be prepared by studying the suggestions received from various media. The committee is expected to ask the Supreme Court for more time to submit the report. Under the circumstances, the issue could be postponed till the Assembly elections in 5 states.
