Mathura, Ta. 07 February 2021 Sunday

Another petition seeking removal of a 17th century mosque near the birthplace of Lord Krishna in the Katra Keshavdev temple complex has been accepted. A Mathura court has issued notices to the Shahi Eidgah Mosque Management Committee and others, directing them to take sides in the petition. District Political Advocate Sanjay Gowda said Additional District and Sessions Judge Devkant Shukla had issued a notice accepting the application.

Answer requested by March 8

Sanjay Gowda said the court had said the dispute was admissible. This is therefore accepted for an extended hearing. He said the matter has been summoned by the chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Sunni Central Wakf Board, the secretary of the Royal Eidgah Management Committee, the managing trustee of the Shrikrishna Janmabhoomi Trust and the secretary of the Shrikrishna Janmasthan Seva Sansthan to file a reply by March 8. The petition has been filed by Pawan Kumar Shastri alias Pawan Kumar Goswami on behalf of Thakur Keshav Dev ji Maharaj Virajman, the deity of the old Keshavdev temple.

These three requests in the application

Sevayat Shastri has made three requests in the petition. According to which, a claim has been made on the entire 13.7 acres of land of Katra Keshav Dev temple complex including the land with Shahi Idgah mosque. Shastri has requested to give authority to the management of the temple premises. He claims that his ancestors have been serving God for decades as priests and thus inherited this right due to the actual service of the temple.
