- Public places cannot be occupied for picketing

The Supreme Court has rejected the plea for reconsideration in the Shaheen Bagh case. At the same time, the Supreme Court upheld the judgment in the Shaheen Bagh case in October last year. According to the court, people cannot voluntarily protest in any place. Demonstrations are part of democracy but also have a limit.

Last year the Supreme Court ruled that space for picket demonstrations should be marked. If a person or a group protests outside it, the police have the right to remove them as per the rules. The general public should not be affected by the picketing demonstrations. Public places cannot be occupied for picketing.

In the judgment, the Supreme Court declared the CAA protest in Shaheen Bagh illegal. The court's ruling was challenged in the Supreme Court for reconsideration. However, the Supreme Court has now rejected the appeal. SK Call, Aniruddha Bose and Krishna Murari have rejected the plea.

In the year 2019, Shaheen Bagh emerged as the center of CAA protests in Delhi. A large number of people reached Shaheen Bagh and protested against the citizenship law. The demonstrations at Shaheen Bagh came to an end after a lockdown was imposed in March last year due to the Koro epidemic. Demonstrators and critics called the law anti-Muslim. Due to these demonstrations, transport in Delhi was severely affected.
