On familism, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said on Friday that no one from his family had become prime minister in the last 30-35 years and no one from his family was involved in the UPA government. During a virtual meeting with Professor Deepesh Chakraborty of the University of Chicago, he discussed a number of issues.

He accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of "selling dreams". On the question connected with racism, he said, the last time my family became prime minister was 30-35 years ago. None of my family was involved in the UPA government.

That said, I fight for some values. You can't say that I am the son of Rajiv Gandhi, so why don't I fight for these values. On the question of democracy, he said that in the modern age, Mahatma Gandhi, BR Ambedkar, Jawaharlal Nehru and Maulana Azad had given some ideas on how Indian democracy should be.

Regarding the emergence of some leaders as strong leaders in different countries of the world, he said that many leaders come in the midst of people's troubles and say that they will solve every problem but they cannot solve the problem. Referring to the farmers' movement, the Congress leader alleged that the Prime Minister had brought the law for the benefit of some industrialists.
