India's judiciary is broken, no court wants to go: Gogoi

I would not have taken the ordinary post of Rajya Sabha MP if I had bargained for verdict in favor of BJP: Former judge

Former Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi has questioned the Indian judiciary, calling it degrading. Gogoi went so far as to say that now no one has started coming to court. I don't even want to go to court myself. Only those who are willing to take the risk are currently going to court.

Gogoi made this statement in an interview. He further said who goes to court? You go to court and regret it. Ranjan Gogoi also claimed that only big corporates are currently going to court as they are capable of taking risks. Gogoi retired as Chief Justice in November 2019. After which he was appointed as a Rajya Sabha MP by the government in March 2020.

Asked to take legal action after questions from TMC MP Mahua Moitra in the Lok Sabha, Ranjan Gogoi said, "If you go to court, you disclose your personal case." You never get decisions. Former CJI Ranjan Gogoi, meanwhile, also spoke of major changes in the Indian justice system.

"You want a five trillion dollar economy but on the other hand your justice system is in a dilapidated state," he said. Gogoi said the appointment of the right person is necessary for the right job, you cannot appoint judges in the same way as you appoint officials in the government.

Responding to allegations that Ranjan Gogoi had given judgments in cases like Ayodhya and Rafal for which he was made a Rajya Sabha MP by the government, Gogoi said if anyone really made such a deal, would he do it for the Rajya Sabha general seat? If I had made a deal to give a verdict in favor of the BJP, why not just hold a general meeting of the Rajya Sabha, make a big demand.

Former Chief Justice Gogoi's statement worrisome: Pawar

(Special Representative) Mumbai, Ta. 14

The judiciary of the country is old and I will not go to court for any reason if you ask me. And you will not get justice there, the statement of former Supreme Court Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi has been expressed by NCP national president Sharad Pawar to reporters here on Sunday. "Everyone is shocked and worried by Gogoi's statement," Pawar said.

"I read last week that the justice system in the country is very good," Pawar said. This was mentioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a meeting with the judges. Glad about it. But Ranjan Gogoi's statement is shocking. I don't know if they tried to tell the truth about the justice system in their own way.

His statement is worrying everyone. Sharad Pawar, Pooja Chavan and Dhananjay Munde have declined to comment on the matter. Chandrakant Patil has questioned whether Sharad Pawar is calm in the Pooja Chavan suicide case and Dhananjay Munde case. Sharad Pawar, in response to Chandrakant Patil's criticism, said, "What can I say about those who have to leave their village and go elsewhere?"
