Haryana is a testament to the extent of unemployment in India and the fact that young people are not getting jobs even after getting a degree.

In Panipat Court in Haryana, recruitment was announced for 13 posts of Patawala. Peon, who is in Group D, had eight academic qualifications for the post but 27,000 youngsters turned up for the 13th post. Thus more than 2,000 candidates were to be interviewed for one post.

Of these 27,000, thousands of candidates had engineering degrees such as B.Tech and M.Tech and were seen waiting for hours to be interviewed for a peon's job.

Thus, young people studying engineering are also vying for jobs. The current situation in the country is that 1.5 million students get engineering degrees every year and it is said that only 2.5 lakh students get jobs according to their qualifications. The rest are either unemployed or forced to accept another job.

The situation is similar to most of the states in the country like Haryana.
