The picture is hotly debated and people are curious as to who is the woman whose PM Modi is also taking blessings from. The woman's name is R Pappammal. She is 106 years old and is in the news for organic farming in Tamil Nadu. Is the oldest farmer in the country who is still active in farming.

PM Modi wrote while sharing the picture on Facebook that he met the extraordinary Pappammalji in Coimbatore today. He has been awarded the Padma Shri for his contribution in the field of agriculture.

Pappammal was born in Coimbatore in 1914. Pappammal, who lost his parents at an early age, was raised by his grandparents. He ran a family shop and used the proceeds to buy 10 acres of land.

He soon turned to farming and for the last seven decades his organic farming has been a source of inspiration in Tamil Nadu. Even today he wakes up at 5:30 am and reaches the farm by 6:00 am. Pappammal is still fit at 106 years old. , They take more green vegetables in their meals and this is the secret of their fitness. They eat on banana leaves instead of dishes.

Today, Pappammal works on a farm and promotes organic farming by participating in various programs. He not only maintains the farm but also the provision store he started earlier. He also runs a food and beverage shop.
