Dr. PM Modi's address at MGR Medical Uni. - "We approved 15 AIIMS in 6 years"

Prime Minister Narendra Modi called on Dr. Tamil Nadu through video conferencing. MGR addressed the 33rd Convocation of the Medical University. The PMO said a total of 17,591 candidates would be conferred with degrees and diplomas at the ceremony. Governor of Tamil Nadu Banwarilal Purohit was also present on the occasion.

In his address, the Prime Minister said his government had approved the setting up of 11 new medical colleges in Tamil Nadu. The new college will be set up in the districts where not a single medical college is functioning at present. The Government of India will provide Rs 2,000 crore for each medical college to be set up in Tamil Nadu. The Prime Minister said that doctors are one of the most respected professionals in our country and respect for them has increased since the Corona epidemic.

The Prime Minister further said that in 2014, there were only 6 AIIMS in our country. In the last 6 years, his government has approved 15 more AIIMSs across the country. In addition, in the last 6 years, compared to 2014, the number of MBBS seats has increased by 50 per cent, i.e. more than 30,000. Apart from that, PG's seats have increased by 80 per cent or about 24,000 as compared to 2014.
