Diesel-petrol prices skyrocket, find out how much the price has gone up in a year

The central government has announced agri infra cess on petrol and diesel to strengthen the agricultural sector. In the budget for the financial year 2021-22, agri infra cess of Rs 2.5 per liter on petrol and Rs 4 per liter on diesel has been proposed. It has been clarified that the cess will not be borne by the consumers but will be levied from the companies.

Although the price of petrol-diesel is at a historic high in the current scenario, the rate of petrol in Mumbai on Saturday was Rs 93.49, while in the capital Delhi the rate of petrol was Rs 86.95 or about Rs 87. There is Rs 89.39 per liter in Chennai and Rs 88.30 per liter in Kolkata.

Similarly, diesel is priced at Rs 83.99 per liter in Mumbai, Rs 82.33 per liter in Chennai, Rs 80.71 per liter in Kolkata and Rs 77.13 per liter in the capital Delhi, an increase of about Rs 20 per liter in just one year over last year. While the price of diesel has gone up by about Rs 15.

Brent crude was trading at 55 55.13 a barrel on the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), while American crude West Texas Intermediate was trading at 51 51.09 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX).

At present, US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures are up 51 cents, or 0.9 per cent, at .7 56.73 a barrel, while Brent crude futures are up 45 cents, or 0.8 per cent, at 59 59.28. The barrel has reached.
