Creating a passport will now be easier, no need for original certificates, the government took this decision

The Ministry of External Affairs has launched the Digi Locker Platform for the Passport Service Program. With the launch of this facility, passport makers will no longer have to show original documents at the time of application. The whole process has been simplified by the Digi Locker program.

Inaugurating the Digi Locker platform for the Ministry of External Affairs' Passport Service Program, Minister of State for External Affairs Muralitharan said, "This will be of great help to the citizens." With that said citizens no longer need to carry original documents for passports.

He said that the Passport Service Program has brought a big change in the direction of the area of ​​Passport Services in the country. The last 6 years have seen a lot of changes. The number of people applying for passports is constantly increasing every month. In 2017, for the first time in a month, the number of applicants crossed one million. More than seven crore passports have been issued through the Passport Service Project.

"We have taken a number of important steps to improve the service experience for citizens," the minister said. It has worked not only to simplify the passport rules but also to provide passport service to the citizens closer to home. Took a step towards starting a Passport Service Center at the main post office. Passport Service Centers have been set up at 426 post offices and in another pipeline.

He said a total of 555 passport offices in the country, connected to 36 passport offices and 93 existing passport centers, are for the public. We are also working towards creating e-passports to enhance the security of citizens, so that it is not difficult to tamper with the statistics registered on the passport and thus reduce the possibility of fraud.
