A fatal attack on police who went to take action against bootleggers took place late on Tuesday evening at Kasganj in Uttar Pradesh. The collision took place on the banks of the river Kali near Nagla Dhimar in the Sipura Thana area of ​​Kasganj. The mafias killed a sepoy while seriously injuring an inspector. The bootlegger Moti's brother was then shot dead in a police operation early Wednesday morning.

According to Prempal Singh, in-charge of the Sinhapura police station area, police were on the lookout for the bootlegger and his accomplices and there was a clash between the police and the bootlegger at the time. Police were fired upon by bootleggers and in retaliation the police also fired back. Bootlegger Moti Dhimar's brother Elkar Singh was shot dead in the clash. Elkar was taken to hospital in critical condition where doctors pronounced him dead.

In Kasganj's Nagla Dhimar village, an inspector and a sepoy, who had gone to deal with a case of illegal liquor, were chased and beaten by goons. He tore the uniforms of the policemen and stripped them of their weapons. After several hours of searching, the body of the sepoy was found and the inspector from another place was found in critical condition.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken a very tough stance on the Kasganj incident. He expressed displeasure over the incident and ordered stern action against the culprits involved and directed to take action under Rasuka. He expressed deep sympathy to the family of the martyred police personnel and directed them to provide government jobs to the dependents in addition to financial assistance of Rs 50 lakh.
