Tripura Chief Minister Viplav Dev has once again come under fire for his bizarre statement. He claimed at an event in Agartala that the BJP was planning to expand not only in India but also in neighboring countries. He disclosed the BJP's alleged ambitions for Nepal and Sri Lanka.

Viplav Dev said that when Home Minister Amit Shah became the national president of the BJP, he said he planned to form his own government in Nepal and Sri Lanka. Chief Minister Viplav Dev was referring to the conversation with Amit Shah in 2018 when Amit Shah was the party's national president.

According to Viplav Dev, Amit Shah at a party meeting at the time discussed foreign territory after his victory in all the states of India. Recalling the incident, Viplav Dev said, "In the meeting, Ajay Jamwal said that the BJP has formed its own government in several states. In response, Amit Shah said that it is now planning to expand to Sri Lanka and Nepal."

Besides, Chief Minister Viplav Dev lauded the budget for the next financial year, calling it a step towards making South Asia a self-sufficient South Asia. According to him, India's policies and work are capable of making Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal self-sufficient.

Opposition parties CPM and Congress demanded immediate action against him after Chief Minister Viplav Dev's statement. Both the parties termed Viplav Dev's statement as the most undemocratic. At the same time, he asked Amit Shah to clarify the situation regarding his claim to form a government abroad.
