3 terrorists shot dead in Shopian encounter, one SPO martyred in Budgam

Clashes broke out between security forces and militants at two places in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday morning. Security forces killed 3 militants in the clash at Shopian. A SPO of Jammu and Kashmir Police was killed in the clash at Budgam. A search operation was conducted at both the places after the clash.

According to a report by the Jammu and Kashmir Police, clashes broke out between militants and security forces late at night in Shopian. A search operation was conducted at Pulwama after input that terrorists were hiding in a residential area earlier. Security forces cordoned off the area and arrested a newly recruited militant.

The encounter comes at a time when several European Union countries and some members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) have visited Jammu and Kashmir to discuss the situation. Recently there was a clash between security forces and militants in Trant of Avantipora in which security forces shot dead 3 militants. Apart from that, there was also a clash at Lalihar in Pulwama where two militants surrendered with AK-47 rifles.
