New Delhi Dated 23rd January 2021 Saturday

In West Bengal, the state assembly elections could be held early to avoid clashes with the 10th and 12th standard board exams, Election Commission sources said.

A source in the commission said that preparations were underway by the commission to hold assembly elections in West Bengal early. If the husband goes to the polls early, the tenth and twelfth standard board examinations will not matter.

This could mean that the Election Commission may announce early elections in the first week of February. The commission plans to complete the assembly elections before May 5. The term of the current Mamata government expires on May 30. It is necessary that a new election be held before that.

According to the West Bengal Education Department, the 10th and 12th board exams this year will run from May 4 to June 10. However the Secondary School Board has not yet formally announced the exam dates. But the Election Commission is not willing to take any risk.

In a meeting with political parties in West Bengal, the Election Commission had hinted that the state assembly elections would be held soon. A spokesman for the ruling TMC said, "We have already started preparations for the by-elections." The other parties know what the other parties are talking about. We are getting ready.

Recently, Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora was on a tour of West Bengal with two other Election Commissioners Sushil Chandra and Rajiv Kumar. He was accompanied by Sandeep Jain, Deputy Commissioner, West Bengal Commission. All of them oversaw the preparations for the West Bengal Assembly elections.

It is pertinent to recall that recently Mamata Banerjee alleged that the departure of Border Security Force was intimidating our voters.
