- Nirvana has ruined us too

"Nirav Modi has ruined us too. We are ready to be government witnesses. Forgive us," said Nirav's sister Purvi and son-in-law Mayank Mehta.

The Enforcement Directorate had also filed a money laundering case against Nirav Modi's sister Banavi, who fled abroad after hiding billions of rupees from the Punjab National Bank. Nirav's younger sister Purvi and son-in-law Mayank Mehta were declared witnesses in two cases filed by the Enforcement Directorate.

The Mumbai special court granted the two pardons and allowed them to be government witnesses. Last month, Purvi and Mayank Mehta filed a petition in the special court. In the petition, both claimed that we want to get out of the Nirvana case now. If we are forgiven we are ready to give some accurate information about Nirav and become a government witness. It should be noted that Purvi has Belgian citizenship and her husband has British citizenship.

Both of them said in their application that the crime committed by Nirvana had adversely affected our personal and professional lives. We are ready to be government witnesses in two cases of money laundering filed by the ED against us. We can provide some information that could be important in convicting Nirav and his accomplices.

The CBI had launched an investigation against some of Nirav and his associates in the Punjab National Bank scam worth Rs 6,498.20 crore. Purvi and Mayank were not named by the CBI but the ED had indicted them in two money laundering cases. The ED objected to his application and objected to the person being associated with the accused company or organization becoming a witness.
