Vaccine gift to the country on the first day of the year: Serum Institute's vaccine Covishield approved for emergency use

- India becomes third country to approve Oxford vaccine after Britain and Argentina

The first day of the new year has brought great good news for the countrymen. On the first day of the year, the countrymen have received the gift of corona vaccine. The vaccine 'Kovishield' of Serum Institute, the largest vaccine manufacturer not only in India but in the world, has been approved for emergency use in India. This has been approved by a panel of experts constituted by the Drug Controller of India.

An important meeting was held on Friday regarding the corona vaccine. Vaccines developed by Oxford University and AstraZeneca have been approved within this CDSCO meeting. What is special is that this vaccine is manufactured in India by the Pune-based Serum Institute. The Serum Institute has entered into an agreement with AstraZeneca for the production of corona vaccine.

The Oxford vaccine was first approved by Britain. Argentina then approved it and now India has become the third country to approve the vaccine. Fifty million doses of this vaccine have already been prepared by the Serum Institute. In India, the vaccine is called 'Kovishield'.

Earlier, a meeting of the Expert Committee was held on Wednesday to consider approval for emergency use of the vaccine. The meeting was held again today and the decision has been taken. A total of three vaccine companies made presentations at today's meeting. These include Bharat Biotech, Serum Institute and Pfizer. Out of these three, the committee has finally sealed the Covishield of the Serum Institute.

The countrymen have spent the last year in an atmosphere of fear and trouble. Then, on the first day of the new year, a ray of hope has come for the countrymen. The Government of India has also completed all the preparations for the commencement of vaccination. Nationwide vaccinations may begin this week.
