Unsuccessful attempt to burn young woman after gangrape in Indore, first stabbed then sprayed with kerosene

Five people tried unsuccessfully to burn a young woman alive after she was gang-raped in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.

The heartbreaking incident took place when the 18-year-old girl was returning home from a coaching class at midnight when five youths intercepted her. Earlier he was gangraped. He was then stabbed. He then changed his mind and tried to set it on fire by spraying kerosene on it but the accused fled after the girl booed and some people came there.

According to Indore police, the girl was earlier raped by two youths near Bhagirathpura railway track. That is why when three other youths came there, he also took advantage of the circumstances and he also gangraped the girl. He then stabbed her. Kerosene was finally sprayed on her to burn her to hide her identity, but before she could do so, the young woman screamed and people gathered, resulting in the accused fleeing.

One accused was arrested by the police. The victim was admitted to the hospital for medical treatment. In the last few months, gangrape incidents have been on the rise in Madhya Pradesh as well as in Uttar Pradesh. Even in broad daylight, there were reports in the media that women were now afraid to leave their homes. Police have started interrogating the arrested youths to nab other youths involved in the incident. A hospital spokesperson said the girl was now safe.
