Tractor rally: More than 100 farmer leaders detained in Agra, Delhi border sealed

A tractor rally will be organized by farmers in Delhi on the occasion of Republic Day. In which thousands of farmers are participating. The Uttar Pradesh government is taking a tough stance to stop farmers from participating in the rally. As many as 100 farmer leaders have been detained in the Agra region. On the other hand, the Uttar Pradesh and Delhi borders have been sealed. Uttar Pradesh Police is conducting intensive checking at Agra border. Tractors are being stopped on their way to Delhi.

Farmers allege that petrol pumps have been ordered by the administration not to supply diesel to tractors. Police have stopped farmers on the road at several places in Eta. This caused a traffic jam on the Agra-Bareilly highway. Farmers in Mathura jammed the Yamuna Xpers Way for about 30 minutes.

"Thousands of our workers were supposed to reach the Chilla border in the Agra area by Sunday evening, but they were stopped before that," said Yogesh Pratap Singh, state president of the Indian Farmers' Union at the Chilla border. He said several leaders have been detained on the orders of the state government. Those who managed to get out of their homes with a tractor were stopped on the way.
