Indore Dated 5th January 2021 Tuesday

In Indore, government officials demolished several illegal houses after they were stoned in a minority area during a recent rally of a Hindutva organization.

When contacted, District Magistrate Pratul Sinha said the original was to cut off a portion of some houses to widen the road. But the administration was forced to demolish the houses of some anti-social elements after a violent clash between the two communities.

Shivraj Singh has a BJP government in Madhya Pradesh. The Chandankhedi area has a large Muslim minority. The area has some huts and some illegally constructed houses. Sinha claimed that we had facilitated the residents to remove their belongings from the house so no one's belongings were damaged. Some parts of 13 houses had to be demolished to widen the road.

Among those whose houses were demolished was the house of local panchayat member Muhammad Rafiq. Rafiq's wife said some officers arrived just a day before the house was demolished and asked to vacate the house. I requested the police that my husband be arrested on charges of stoning. How can I vacate a lonely Bai man house. But the authorities did not listen to me.

Chandankhedi village is 40 km from Indore and is home to 400 Muslim and 15 Hindu families. A few days ago, a Hindutva organization had rallied to raise funds for the Ram temple. The rally was stoned. This was followed by violent clashes. The houses of some Muslims were then demolished under the pretext of widening the road.
