Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday expanded his cabinet. This is the third extension of the Madhya Pradesh cabinet. Two confidants of BJP leader Jyotiraditya Scindia have found a place in the cabinet in this constituency.

The Shivraj cabinet has been expanded in Madhya Pradesh after the by-elections. Governor Anandiben Patel administered the oath of office to Tulsi Silawat and Govind Singh Rajput. Tulsi Silawat and Govind Singh won the recent by-elections. Ever since then, speculations about cabinet expansion in Madhya Pradesh had started.

There are still three ministerial posts vacant in the Shivraj cabinet. Many old BJP leaders were vying for the post. But this time no one got a chance. Shivraj Singh Chauhan was also present during the swearing-in ceremony.

Discussions on the area of this cabinet have been going on in political circles since the results of the by-elections on November 3 on 28 assembly seats in Madhya Pradesh came out. In the by-elections, the BJP won 19 out of 28 seats while the main opposition Congress got only 9 seats. As a result, the BJP's seats in the 230-member assembly rose to 126 while the number of Congress MLAs reached 96.
