Owaisi goes to Dargah to seek prayers after reaching Bengal, Mamata Banerjee's increased tension

Calcutta, 3rd January 2020, Sunday

In West Bengal, the BJP has posed a major challenge to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for the upcoming elections, while AIMIM chairperson and MP Asaduddin Owaisi is raising tensions with Mamata.

Amid fears of a rift in Mamata Banerjee's Muslim vote bank, Owaisi's party has announced that it will contest elections in the state. Owaisi also visited Bengal today. He has also held meetings with party leaders and learned about the situation in Bengal.

Recently, Owaisi held a meeting with party leaders from West Bengal who had gone to Hyderabad. Thus, Owaisi announced only after the Bihar elections that our party's new target is the Bengal elections.

Owaisi is keen to contest the elections here as there are 30 per cent Muslim voters in the state.

Although Owaisi was trying not to contest elections here, Owaisi's visit today made it clear that he is determined to contest elections in West Bengal.
