On the occasion of the 73rd death anniversary of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Rajghat this morning and paid a heartfelt tribute to Pujya Bapu.

The Prime Minister told the media that Gandhiji was an inspiration to today's generation of teenagers. Gandhiji's ideals have been inspiring millions of people.

The Prime Minister wrote on Twitter that today, on the 73rd death anniversary of Pujya Gandhibapu, I pay my respects to Bapu. His ideas and ideals inspire millions. Today, on the day of martyrdom, we respectfully remember the thousands of famous and anonymous brothers and sisters who were martyred in the freedom struggle.

Today is January 30th. On the evening of January 30, 1947, a man named Nathuram Godse approached Pujya Bapu, who was going for evening prayers, and shot him three times with a point blank, pretending to bow down. Speaking of Hey Ram, Bapu fell down here and there.

Pujya Bapu's Punyatithi is celebrated every year as Shaheed Din.
