Mohan Bhagwat says Hindus can never be traitors, Owaisi retaliates

New Delhi, January 2, 2020

A new debate has started over the statement made by RSS supremo Mohan Bhagwat during the release of a book in Delhi.

During the release of the book, Bhagwat said that if there is a Hindu, he will be a patriot, because this is woven in Hinduism and patriotism is also the nature of Hindus. In any case, a Hindu can never be a traitor.

He said that unity in plurality and unity in plurality is the basic ideology of India. Whatever the form of worship, in the end everyone has to live together. Separation does not mean separation. Gandhiji once said that the root of my patriotism is in my religion. One thing is clear, Hindus have patriotism at their root. There are no traitors here.

Meanwhile, Muslim leader Asaduddin Owaisi has questioned Bhagwat's statement, saying, "Then what will Mohan Bhagwat say to Bapu's assassin Godse and what does he want to say about the 1984 anti-Sikh riots and the 2002 Gujarat riots?"

Owaisi said it was reasonable to assume that most Indians were patriots, regardless of their religion, but the RSS's wild ideology gave people of the same religion a certificate of patriotism. The rest have to make an effort to prove that we have a right to be here.
