LPG cylinders can now be obtained from missed calls, plans to implement this facility across the country

- No more calling

New Delhi dated 2nd January 2021 Saturday

According to an announcement made by the Centre's Petroleum Department, a cylinder of cooking gas can now be obtained by making a missed call. Thus the cylinder could be booked by phone for the last few years.

But the complaint of the people was that the phone for booking often did not ring and the pre-recorded message system was causing trouble to the older customers. From the new year, the Centre's petroleum department also started offering LPG cylinders through missed calls. The booking of the cylinder will be done automatically by giving a missed call from the phone number which the customer has registered with his dealer.

According to Indian Oil, Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan had instructed to start the facility. Any customer can book their cylinder by making a missed call on 8454955555. It was also clarified that no charge would be levied for this missed call. The current IVRS (Interactive Voice Response System) allows the customer to pay the normal phone call rates.

A spokesperson for Indian Oil said that even users in rural and urban areas were constantly complaining that the IVRS system was not working effectively. The system did not suit senior citizens in particular.

The spokesperson further said that for those who are familiar with the technology, there are other features of booking a cylinder such as online booking, booking via SMS or booking through mobile app. This way the cylinder can also be booked.
