The decision to keep RJD president and former Bihar chief minister Lalu Yadav in a bungalow despite being a convict and a prisoner was slammed by the Jharkhand High Court.

The High Court had strongly criticized the move to keep Lalu in the Reims director's bungalow without consulting senior state officials and said the government was abiding by the law. No one is special here. Behaving like a criminal decreases with being a criminal.

Regarding the fact that Lalu was moved on the pretext of Koro’s transition, the High Court said the RIMs administration needed to inform the jail authorities first about the possibility of infection. The jail authorities could have decided where to keep Lalu.

Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh slammed everyone and questioned why the RIMs were in such a hurry to move Lalu to the bungalow. The affidavit filed in the court by the Reims did not provide any indication of the circumstances before and after shifting Lalu to the bungalow. Also, the court does not understand why Lalu was shifted to the director's bungalow. No policy rules have been followed in this regard.

In his defense, the jail official told the court that if a prisoner is taken out of the jail for treatment, he has to make security and other arrangements. Lalu's bodyguards were infected with the corona so that Lalu would not be infected. His security staff was immediately evacuated. Lalu himself was also undergoing treatment.
