Kovishield to hit the market by March: Serum Institute CEO Adar Poonawala

- We are waiting for a government order

New Delhi Dated 4th January 2021 Monday

Adar Poonawala, CEO, Serum Institute of India, said this morning that Kovishield will hit the market by February-March. We still don't know how many doses the government wants to buy.

We are waiting for the government order. The Drug Controller Director General approved our Covishield vaccine. In fact, in addition to the cove shield, DCGI also approved the covexin of Bharat Biotech.

"We have 50 million doses ready," Poonawala said. We are waiting for the government's order. Covishield will be available in the market by February-March. He also claimed that our vaccine has no serious side effects. It will be necessary to take two doses for long term protection. The vaccine affects 90 percent over a three-month period.

The Serum Institute had prepared 50 million doses before receiving emergency approval. This means that millions of doses of both covacin and covishield are prepared together. This is how we now have the tools to fight Corona. Prevention of infection will depend on how the government system implements the vaccination program. Union Health Minister Dr Harshvardhan had announced that everyone would get the vaccine for free. No one is going to pay a penny.

When did vaccination start in America and Britain? Vaccination of Pfizer and Oxford was started there. However, by far the highest number of corona cases and most deaths from corona have occurred in the United States.

Vaccination has been announced in India from this month. Earlier, dry runs were conducted in 116 districts of the country.
