New delhi date. Tuesday 26 January 2021

The strength of the Indian Army has increased. DRDO has successfully tested Akash-NG missile from Odisha's Integrated Test Range. Akash-NG means Akash New Generation Missile. Akash-NG is a surface-to-air missile. This is made for the Indian Air Force.

Permission to build Akash-NG missiles was granted in 2016. This missile has a dual pulse solid rocket motor, which increases its speed. Its range is 40 to 80 kilometers. It also has an active electronically scanned array multi-function radar that can simultaneously scan multiple enemy missiles.

On January 25, DRDO launched the Akash-NG missile from an integrated test range mobile platform on the Chandipur coast of Odisha. It was launched towards an electronic target, which encrypted it with precision.

The total weight of the Akash-NG missile is 720 kg. It is 19 feet long and 1.16 feet in diameter. It can carry a weapon weighing 60 kilograms. There are currently three variants of this in India. The first sky MK- has a range of 30KM. The second sky MK2- has a range of 40KM. Third Sky-NG - Its range is 80KM.

Sky-NG missiles can destroy enemy aircraft or missiles at altitudes of up to 20 kilometers. The most dangerous is the speed of this. This does not give the enemy a chance to prepare to escape. It has a speed of 3.5 Mach i.e. 4321 kilometers per hour. I.e. determines the distance of one and a half kilometers in one second.

Older versions of Akash-NG missiles have been serving the Indian Army since 2009. The Akash-NG missile can be fired from a T-72 i.e. BMP chassis or a mobile launch system built on Tata Motors' heavy mobility trucks. Vehicles for the mobile launch system of this missile are manufactured by Tata Motors and BEML-Tatra companies.

Older versions of the Akash-NG missile were also deployed on the Line of Actual Control in Ladakh during a border dispute with China last year. Apart from this, the Indian Air Force has also deployed Akash Milail at Gwalior, Jalpaiguri, Tezpur, Jorhat and Pune bases.

It was also reported some time ago that countries like Philippines, Belarus, Malaysia, Thailand, UAE and Vietnam want to buy Akash missiles from India. On December 30, 2020, Prime Minister Narendra Modi decided to export the missile at a cabinet meeting. This means that the rest of the world can now buy this missile.
