In Delhi, petrol price rose to an all-time high of Rs 84.20

Petrol prices rose to an all-time high of Rs 84.20 in the national capital today as oil marketing companies hiked petrol and diesel prices for the second day in a row. According to the price notification issued by oil marketing companies, petrol price was hiked by 23 paise and diesel by 26 paise today.

At the same time, the price of a liter of petrol in Delhi has gone up to Rs 84.20 and the price of diesel has gone up to Rs 74.38. In Mumbai, on the other hand, a liter of petrol has gone up by Rs 90.83 and diesel by Rs 81.07.

Today's petrol price in Delhi is the highest ever. Today's diesel price in Mumbai is the highest ever. State-owned oil companies Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) started revising petrol-diesel prices from yesterday after a month-long hiatus.

Yesterday, the price of a liter of petrol was hiked by 26 paise and that of a liter of diesel by 25 paise. Earlier, on October 4, 2018, a liter of petrol was priced at Rs 84 and diesel at Rs 75.45 in Delhi. However, on the same day, the government reduced the excise duty on a liter of petrol and diesel by Rs 1.50.

However, at present, there is no prospect of the government reducing excise duty on petrol and diesel. Since May 2020, petrol prices have gone up by Rs 14.54 and diesel by Rs 12.09. Petrol price in Mumbai on October 4, 2018 was Rs 91.34. Which is the highest ever petrol price in Mumbai.
