In Britain, 1239 people, including Indians, were given various ilqabs

Indians were also among the 12 British New Year's honored artists, academics and frontline workers announced on Thursday.

Most of the recipients of this honor were those who made invaluable contributions to their community. 12.5 per cent of the honorees were of black, Asian or ethnic origin. British TV and Bollywood actor Nina Wadia was honored with the Order of the British Empire (OBA) for her contributions to charity and entertainment.

Acharya Dipanvita Ganguly of Sutton College was also given OBE for promoting and serving adult education in London. Endocrinologist and Consultant Professor Parth Sarthi Karan was awarded OBE for serving people suffering from diabetes and Lord Diljit Rana, who contributed to the economy in Northern Ireland, was also awarded OBE.

West Midlands musician Steven Kapoor, also known as Apache Indian, was awarded the OBE medal. Sanjay Jayendra Kara, Sikh Food Bank founder Charandeep Singh and Akash Odedra co-founder Anand Bhatt were also awarded the OBE.
