A parade was traditionally held on Rajpath in Delhi today amid Republic Day celebrations across the country, which was attended by soldiers from various regiments of the Indian Army.

The most striking thing was Bangladesh. For the first time in the parade, a detachment of Bangladeshi soldiers marched. The 122-member contingent consisted of Bangladesh Army, Navy and Air Force personnel. The Bangladesh Army has been seen in the Republic Day parade for the first time. This year, Bangladesh is celebrating 50 years of independence and has sent a contingent of troops to the parade to strengthen ties with India.

India supported Bangladesh's struggle for independence. The Bangladesh Army contingent involved in today's parade was raised in the 1971 war with Pakistan. This unit fought against the atrocities of Pakistan. This is the third time that soldiers from another country have joined the parade. Earlier, the French army had participated in the parade in 2016 and an army detachment from the UAE in 2017.
