Newly-elected US President Joe Biden took some action soon after his swearing-in. One such move was to ease visa rules.

Biden called on the US Congress to pass a law allowing 11 million immigrants permanent residency and allowing them to become US citizens.

According to reliable sources, the 11 million immigrants include five lakh Indians who do not have any documents for permanent residency in the United States.

One of the 15 commands that Bide signed after taking the oath of office was to grant relief to immigrants. Earlier, Donald Trump tightened H1B visa rules to the detriment of millions of Indian professionals. Trump imposed the visa ban on so-called American youth in the hope of finding work and extended it until the end of March before he left. An earlier order had called for the sanctions to be lifted on December 31, 2020. Trump announced that he would extend the sanctions until March.

During the presidential campaign, Biden sharply criticized Trump's visa policy, saying it could force more than a million people to leave the United States. According to a proposal submitted to Bide, the background of people living in the United States without any legal documents will be investigated by January 1, 2021. These people will be issued a five-year resident visa or green card if they regularly pay U.S. taxes and meet other basic needs, after which they can apply for U.S. citizenship. Thus millions of Indians were also likely to benefit from this policy.
