Facebook-Twitter lock-up following violent protests by Trump supporters

A mob of supporters of outgoing US President Donald Trump stormed Capitol Hill in an attempt to seize control of the Senate. A total of four people, including a woman, were killed in the police firing to disperse the mob. Police and security forces evacuated the rioters.

Meanwhile, all Trump accounts on social media have been blocked following violence by Trump supporters in the US Congress. Twitter as well as Facebook blocked Trump's account. Twitter warned that his account would be permanently shut down if Trump broke the rules in the future.


Twitter, on the other hand, has also deleted three tweets linked to the violence at the parliament building and Trump's controversial statements. Earlier, Facebook and YouTube also deleted Trump's videos. "This is a state of emergency," said Guy Rogen, Facebook's vice president. Trump's video could further escalate the violence.

In fact Donald Trump addressed his supporters when the commotion was going on in Washington. In the meantime he appealed to supporters to go home. But he made some claims about the US election and the violence that were unfounded. This was the reason why more violence did not erupt, so this action was taken.

Twitter has locked Donald Trump's account for 12 hours, meaning he can no longer retweet or like or tweet. However his account will continue. Earlier, Twitter had deleted all of Trump's tweets claiming election-violence.


Speaking of Facebook, President Donald Trump's page has been banned for 24 hours. Facebook says the page has led to two major breaches in a row, and that the decision was made in light of the situation. Also, the video of Donald Trump's speech that was posted on YouTube has been removed. A similar decision was made on Instagram and the account has been locked for 24 hours.

When it was late at night in India, thousands of Trump supporters stormed Capitol Hill with weapons, vandalized it, ousted senators and occupied it. However after a long struggle the security forces pulled them out and secured Capitol Hill.

Trump's daughter Ivanka calls rioters patriots, deletes tweet after harsh criticism
Trump's daughter Ivanka called the rioters "patriots" on social media, praising the violence perpetrated by supporters of President Donald Trump, who is bidding farewell to Washington DC in the United States. However, after Ivanka's harsh criticism on social media, she deleted her tweet and started speaking in her defense. As Ivanka previously wrote, 'O American patriots, no act of violence or violation of the law can be accepted in any way. Stop the violence immediately. Peace be upon you ... 'Her tweet was immediately criticized and thousands of users lashed out at Ivanka for calling the rioters patriots. Ivanka then either realized her mistake and deleted the tweet.
