Washington Tuesday, January 19, 2021

On Monday, outgoing President Donald Trump announced the lifting of travel bans to England, Brazil and Ireland, despite a staggering 24 million corona patients in the United States. The order was to take effect from January 26.

But the new president-elect, Joe Biden, re-imposed the sanctions. Biden will be sworn in as president on January 20. Biden's administration said travel bans on Britain, Brazil and Ireland would not be lifted.

Trump said in a statement that under the powers vested in him by the constitution, he was lifting travel bans on 26 European countries under the Schengen zone under US law. Travel bans in Britain, Brazil and Ireland are thus lifted. Travel to these countries is no longer detrimental to American interests. The order will take effect at 12 midnight on January 26.

Biden's press secretary Jain Sakchi tweeted that the administration was not considering lifting travel bans on these countries on the advice of our medical team. Corona epidemics and infections were on the rise. Cases of infection were on the rise worldwide. Under the circumstances, the Biden administration is not considering lifting the ban. This is not the right time to lift international sanctions. In fact, we believe in taking steps to reduce the impact of the Covid 19 and to reduce international travel.

Donald Trump will step down tomorrow, January 20th. His order is to take effect after midnight on January 26. If Bide had decided to rescind the order before it took effect. Last week, the president of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended that all air travelers, as well as anyone wishing to return to the U.S. after Jan. 26, be required to report Kovid 19 negative or recover from an infection. Apart from that, the official also made it clear that no one should be allowed to enter the United States.
