This is the first time in the last 15 years that Russia's population has shrunk by five million. These population figures have been released by the Russian government. A total of 229,700 people died in Russia from January to November last year. So in the year 2019, the number of deaths in the same period was 13 percent less. Last year, Russian President Vladimir Putin called for population growth.
