New Delhi, 29 January 2021, Friday

President Ram Nath Kovinde addressed both the Houses of Parliament in the first phase of the budget session, which begins on Friday, January 29.

Most opposition parties boycotted the President's speech. The President criticized the violence in the capital New Delhi on Republic Day and praised the new agricultural law.

"We lost a lot of our countrymen prematurely during the Corona epidemic," he said. We lost our dearest President Pranab Mukherjee, including me, in the Corona era. We also lost six other MPs during the Corona era. On behalf of all of you, I pay my heartfelt tributes to all the deceased and especially to Shri Pranab Mukherjee.

Ram Nath Kovinde said the government is serious about the needs of farmers. The government's efforts are to provide one and a half times more support price to the farmers than the recommendations made by the Swaminathan Commission. My government today was not only buying record crops at support prices, but also increasing the number of procurement centers. In the last six years, the government has made efforts to bring about a positive change in the system at every stage from seed to market so that Indian agriculture can be modernized and expanded.

He said that the Self-Reliant India Campaign is a campaign to raise the standard of living of every citizen as well as boost the confidence of the country. I am satisfied that the timely decisions taken by my government during the Corona period have saved the lives of many people. Today the number of new corona patients in the country is declining and the number of people recovering from corona is also quite large.

Ram Nath Kovinde further said that my government had announced a record economic package to handle the economy and took care that no poor man would go hungry even for a tank.
