Badrinath Yatra is now easier as the landslide-prone zone in Uttarakhand has been secured

Authorities in Uttarakhand, where landslides occur frequently, have made the journey easier for Badrinath pilgrims, securing the landslide zone.

The 500-meter belt at Lambagar near Pandukeshwar in Uttarakhand has been regularly eroded. The project to secure the road leading to the Badrinath temple has been pending for 26 years.

The government, led by Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, gave priority to the project and it was completed at a cost of Rs 107 crore in two years. Due to the landslide on the above strip, the road to the temple was closed for several days in the monsoon every year, disrupting the pilgrimage to Badrinath.

The Lambagar-based slide zone on the Rishikesh-Badrinath highway in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district was formed 26 years ago. After it was opened, even a light rain caused the cliff to collapse and the debris piled up on the road, causing travel to stop and sometimes even fatal accidents.
