New Delhi / Ralegan Siddhi on 29th January 2021 Friday

Anna Hazare, a retired Indian Army soldier and social worker, will go on a fast-unto-death from Saturday, January 30, the death anniversary of Father of the Nation Gandhiji.

In support of the ongoing farmers' movement, Anna said, "I have been continuously requesting the Central Government since 2018 to implement the report of the Swaminathan Commission for Farmers." But it seems from this peasant movement that my request has gone awry.

In support of the agitating farmers, Anna had threatened to go on a fast-unto-death from Saturday, January 30.

Anna will fast at the Yadav Baba temple in Ralegan Siddhi village, Anna's hometown. However, Union Minister of State for Agriculture Kailash Chaudhary was reaching Ralegan Siddhi today. Earlier, former Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Haribhau Bagde, former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, BJP leader Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, Ahmednagar MP Sujay Vikhe Patil and other leaders visited Ralegan Siddhi and tried to persuade Anna. Anna was adamant with the Swaminathan Punch report and the demand for a minimum price of support.

Meanwhile, in Delhi, Devendra Fadnavis and Girish Mahaj handed over a draft to Anna after holding talks with Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Tomar. Considering the flaws in the draft, Anna will send the draft back to Tomar. If the government accepts his recommendations, Anna may decide to fast till death at the last minute.

Anna, meanwhile, appealed to farmers across the country to keep the movement truly peaceful. The violence that erupted in Delhi on January 26 could adversely affect the movement. To keep the peace. Anna said she was saddened by the 26th violence.
